RADIANTCampus
Community artist within a work community (6 months)
Faculty of Health and Well-being
Turku University of Applied Sciences
KampusART project, curated by Taina Erävaara and Riina Kotilainen
Turku, Finland
The piece is composed within a work community, highlighting creativity in everyday work and recognising it in each individual. Its focus is on acknowledging and making visible the creative dimensions of work and collaboration.
Rantala engaged in conversations with employees about creativity in their work. Through these dialogues, each participant shaped a metaphor or a “safe harbour” for their creativity together with her. Rantala also worked with teams, where ever-changing kinetic sand functioned as a material for shaping thoughts and questions as they searched for answers.
For six months, she was part of the Health and Wellbeing sector community at Turku University of Applied Sciences. During that time, she carried out her artistic practice as part of the community. In the conceptual work RADIANTCampus, Rantala explored the communal possibilities of public art, shared authorship, and the shaping of thought. The work as a workplace artist was part of the KampusART public art programme in Turku in 2022.
