Weighing

One-to-one piece
First presented at Kehä Festival 2022, Oulu, Finland
2022–

Weighing is a series of sculptures experienced in relation to the participant’s own body. Rather than functioning as individual objects, the work unfolds as an intimate sequence of bodily encounters, taking on different forms.

Eight changing sculptures made from materials including living plants, wood, concrete, and silicone.

The piece engages the participant in a way that moves beyond the visual evaluation of an object. The sculptures are kept in a cabinet, out of sight, and placed into the participant’s lap, shifting the focus from something external to the participant’s own body and memories. The body has its own logic, a deep capacity for remembering. Dialogue between the artist and the participant is an essential part of the work. The title alludes to a question the artist poses to the participant.
