In the Deer Hollow, the Earth Was Open to Us
Dialogical Sculpture based on distributed agency
Uutela Nature reservation area, Helsinki, Finland
A situated encounter unfolds in a place chosen by the participant, in direct contact with the soil. Through this meeting, the work begins to take shape through the interaction of multiple agencies. Time, place, the specific qualities of the site, personal experiences, imagination, and malleable material are all present. The relationship to the earth and the planet is shaped on the participant’s body. Dialogue, place, and connection together inform what comes into being in that moment. The encounter is facilitated by the artist.
